social capital and the blame game

:"if you don’t think u are a beneficiairy of slavery in this country’s past and present, please check out my comment to masuruha about indirect subsidy …..and go make sure there is no south american copper connecting you to the net.
the trouble is there are no easy answers from wgic the politicians can create 8 second sound butes, or else the american public isn’t buying good enuff politicians….since, rhetoric asider, the usa spends less money on politics than it does chewing gum, it is no wonder."
i wrote that in 2001, as part of a discussion of how to calculate "social capital."
a couple of hours ago, china announced that the current crisis in marets came from Americans buying endless amounts of things they could not afford.
   i ask….from whom?

The political blame game seems to have been turned on Alan Greenspan the other day.

Seems to me that about 3 yrs ago he tried to suggest that Fannie & Freddie be held more accountable for what they were reporting. Not too long after Fannie went into about a 15 mo flurry of 10-K filings, about 4 yrs of 10-Ks during that time, plus restating about 2-3 yrs of balances prior. Don’t think Freddie has ever filed a 10-K in its history.

So. who is to blame for this?

onfe could argue that the sec has some responsibility for sec filings, but isn’t it easier to say the sec is subject the fed res?
under the ancent doctrine of the fiser king, greenie must be at fault. it cannnnot be those who refused to follow the law.
hypotethical: can u imagine what woulda hapopened in y2k or 2004 or whatever if the sec had issued a 10 day suspension of trade in freddie or fannie for failure to file??? o. no bubble. just a loud gasp.
